This is a Big Deal

I feel truly accomolished. My goals are not fully acheived yet but I must reward myself for this important milestone!

Today marks a pretty big day for me. I have officially seen a number on the scale that is less than 200 lbs. I know what you are thinking… That doesn’t mean I am actually less than 200 because weight fluctuates constantly, but today I actually stepped on the scale and saw a number that starts with a 1. It has been years since this was the case.

I still have a long way to go to meet my goals but it feels good to have real progress. I started at 232 lbs. I moved down to around 210-215 for a year (I got lax in my keto) and now I have hit a new milestone!

I have an insane amount of energy, my clothes are starting to fit and I can run a relatively smooth mile. There is still a long way to go and I am still above where a healthy person of my body type and height should be, bit this is real progress!

It takes a lifestyle change not just a gym trip no and again and the occasional salad. It isn’t easy but it feels good and is worth the effort.

My advice is to not have exceptions to your rules. “Oh I haven’t seen these people in awhile so I will indulge because we are having a good time” or “well its the holidays” are things that kill all progress because they halt the lifestyle change. If you make excuses and exceptions you will always find “special occasions”. Make a plan and stick to it. It works!

Keto Dessert Basics

What do I do when I need to feed the sweet tooth?

What do I do when I just got back from the gym and and it is late and I must satisfy my sweet tooth?

I eat strawberries and whip cream obviously!!!!!

Just like most fruits on Keto (and generally all foods on any diet) moderation and portion size is the key to happiness!

1/4 cup of strawberries has about 2-3 grams of net carbs and about 2 grams of sugars.

They are an amazing treat that is necessary to make it in the long run! Food should still be fun and tasty! Just control the portions… Except with the whip cream of course! With less than 1 gram of carbs per serving you can go nuts with that!!!!

Getting Active

Keto will get you far but for a true lifestyle change for the better you have to do one key thing!

Half the battle is just getting active! Getting off of your butt and moving your body! I recently got a fitbit for my birthday and have realized just how little I move working an 8-5 office job.

I was a lifeguard for years, and before that a swimmer and water polo player! I have forgotten that I like to move! I love being excited and energetic, pushing my body past some of its limits!

Today I went to the beach to remind myself! The surf in Laguna was a comfortable 2-4 ft! I got a decent swim in and a little body surf! I am in bed now and I am tired. But it is a clean tired caused by working muscles that have not been worked in a long time! It feels good and I recommend it! Just move and breathe and you are already halfway there!

Ahi Tacos

The 5th day and the beginning of a new challenge!

The journey continues as the first work week ends. The true challenge of the weekend is upon us! Tonight I was victorious with a keto classic of Ahi Tacos! Sometimes it pays to live in a harbor town where you can have fresh fish frequently!

Keto Genius

When I say genius I am not kidding! This is the best thing to happen to the sandwich since sliced bread (shoot! Thay actually made sense). It isn’t a lettuce wrap but it is still a keto sandwich! Find out how!

I cannot claim credit for this marvel. My lovely girlfriend made these! The idea is simple… How do you make a keto sandwich, because let’s face it, I used to live off of sandwiches (thus the need for drastic life change). But so much of a sandwich is good:

Mustard – nothing wrong there

Lunch meats – OK maybe not the best but definitely not bad, especially since I love turkey

A slice of cheese – not bad in reasonable quantities

Some lettuce/tomato/onion/peppers – not only ‘not bad’ but actually really good for you

So I ask: Where does a sandwich go wrong?

You’re smart so I am sure you have guessed it, especially since this is a Keto thing!

Bread: So useful to keep all that good stuff in line, but not the greatest thing to eat consistently! That is where my love struck pure keto genius: Cut a bell pepper in half and use that!

It is so simple and so elegant! I cannot believe I never thought of it before! Not only does it add a satisfying CRUNCH to your sandwich, but I freaking love bell peppers too!!! It’s a win-win for sure! Anyway, today was day 4 of the new regiment! I went to the gym and maintained my diet goals!

I am serious about getting to a healthier and happier state of being!

Third Day is the Charm

I like animals but I need to kill my fat cow!

Today marks the third day of my renewed vigor and spirit! I have successfully maintained my Keto meal plan:

Breakfast – Yogurt and Blue Berries

Lunch – Green Salad w/ Blue Cheese dressing

Dinner – Italian Sausage soup. Full of amazing vegetables and spicy flavors!!!!

Along with that my journey to health and wellness included a trip to the gym where I ran a mile (doesn’t sound like munch but for me that is like running to the moon…I will get better!) And worked my arms and shoulders!

It feels so good to be sore. That sounds counterintuitive but when you work in an office and are constantly mentally exhausted, it is a great feeling to be physically exhausted! It feels like a cleaner kind of tired! Anyway, I am done rambling for now!

Day 2

The second day is the most important of a new routine! It means it is not a one off deal!

Today is day 2 of my renewed journey towards health and happiness. I have eaten a keto diet with lots of good vegetables and some fatty chicken thighs!!! Also I am day two in a row at the gym! I will stay strong and writing this down here (whether it is read by anyone or not) is a huge phsycological help!
